Installing
Merlin-A
These are the steps to install Merlin (Windows is recommended):
- Download a clean Eclipse copy if you do not have one. Make sure to select the "modelling tools" version.
- Click on Help/Install new Software and add this update site.
First steps
The following steps show the basic functioning of Merlin-A.
- Download and unzip an example adaptive language, for example the Class diagrams adaptive language.
- Right click on Eclipse's package explorer and select import/existing projects into workspace, and then select the folder you unzipped the archive into.
- You should have now on your Eclipse's package explorer the project with the adaptive class diagrams language. You can see the feature model by clicking on file model.xml.
- The 150% meta-model of the language is AdaptiveClassDiagrams.ecore. You can right-click on it, and select Merlin/Validate ecore (syntax) to check if everything is correct. It will report that some elements have PC false, but that's OK, since those elements are auxiliary elements for the migration transformation across language variants.
- You can open the file with extension .adapters to see the defined adapters for the migrations. Transformations are specified using Henshin.
- The folder "configurations" contains a few interesting configurations of the language.
- Right-clicking on the .adapters file you can generate migrations between two selected configurations (e.g., for testing).
- Right-clicking on the .ecore file you can generate an adaptive tree modelling editor for your adaptive language. The generated editor will migrate the current model whenever you choose a different language configuration. You can configure the triggers by adding code in the "OnEdit" or "OnSave" hooks in the generated model.editor project.
